  • SDA Endorses Candidates for March 1 Democratic Primary On Thursday, January 28th the membership of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin heard from more than 35 candidates for the March 1 Democratic Primary elections. In order to be eligible to be considered for the club endorsement candidates were required to respond to a questionnaire addressing a number of LGBT issues (see 2016 Elections for those responses). Endorsements were made based on who the membership felt would best represent the interests of the LGBT community. In order to receive an endorsement a candidate needed to obtain at least 60% of the votes of those present and voting.   • SDA Candidate Endorsement Forum January 28 The Stonewall Democrats of Austin will be holding a Candidate Endorsement Forum on Thursday, January 28th in the Smith Auditorium of the Congregation Beth Israel (3901 Shoal Creek Blvd). Doors will open at 5:30 pm and the meeting will begin at 6:00 pm. In order to be considered for endorsement a candidate must have filled out our questionnaire (we will have copies of the candidates’ responses to our questionnaire available at the meeting). Candidates will give 1-2 minute opening remarks, followed by 2-3 minutes Q&A with our members, then 1 minute for closing remarks for a total of 5 minutes per candidate.
