  • Stonewall Democrats of Austin Endorsements for Nov. 8th Elections On November 8th the country will vote in perhaps the most important Presidential election in recent memory. It is abundantly clear that there is only one credible candidate and that is Hillary Clinton. However there are many more offices being contested and the Stonewall Democrats of Austin encourages everyone to vote a straight Democratic ticket. Early Voting runs from October 24th to November 4th. Early, Mobile, and Election Day voting locations can be found below. In addition to the partisan races there are also a number of down-ballot non partisan elections, including City Council, Austin Community College (ACC) Board of Trustees, Austin Independent School District (AISD) Board of Trustees, and the City of Austin Transportation Bond (Prop. 1).   • ACC & AISD Candidate Forum October 19th Because of Yom Kippur the Stonewall Democrats of Austin will not be meeting on October 12th, instead we will be holding a Candidate Endorsement Forum for the ACC and AISD Board of Trustees on Wednesday, October 19th at Cafe Express (3418 N. Lamar Blvd). The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm. In order to be considered for endorsement a candidate must have filled out our questionnaire (Responses are at the end of this article and we will have copies of the candidates’ responses to our questionnaire available at the meeting). Candidates will give 1-2 minute opening remarks, followed by 2-3 minutes Q&A with our members, then 1 minute for closing remarks for a total of 5 ...

  • Stonewall Endorses in City Council Elections On Wednesday, September 14th the membership of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin met in the Smith Auditorium at Congregation Beth Israel to hear from candidates for City Council Districts 2, 4, 6, 7, and 10. In order to be eligible to be considered for the club endorsement candidates were required to respond to a questionnaire addressing a number of LGBT issues. Candidate responses are at http://www.stonewallaustin.org/elections In order to receive an endorsement a candidate needed to obtain at least 60% of the votes of those present and voting.   • Council Candidate questionnaire responses online On Wednesday, September 14th the membership of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin will meet in the Smith Auditorium at Congregation Beth Israel (3901 Shoal Creek Blvd) beginning at 6:30 pm to hear from candidates for City Council Districts 2, 4, 6, 7, and 10.
