Please join us at our regular monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at Cafe Express (3418 N. Lamar Blvd).
 Please remember to vote in the May 29th Primary Elections. The Stonewall-endorsed candidates can be found in the links above.

Due to the State Convention and the 4th of July holiday the next regular monthly meeting will be on August 1.

Recent Announcements

  • June and July monthly meetings cancelled Because of the State Democratic Convention and the July 4th Holiday, we will not hold Stonewall Democrats of Austin meetings in those months. Be ready at our August meeting to discuss how we can expand the LGBT voter pool for the November elections. We'll also make plans for doing a intensive voter registration program at September's Pride events and LGBT bars and businesses.

  • Glen Maxey elected President of Stonewall Democrats of Austin At the May 2nd meeting of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin former State Representative Glen Maxey was elected to be the new President of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin.Maxey succeeds outgoing President Rich Bailey, who chose not to run for re-election after 5 years at the helm of SDA. Maxey said a key area of focus for the year will be a renewed effort at voter registration and Get Out The Vote drives within the LGBT community.Congratulations to Glen on his election.We hope you will consider volunteering with us as we work toward electing Equality-minded candidates in November.   • SDA Monthly Meeting May 2nd at 6:30 pm Please join Stonewall Democrats of Austin at our monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 2nd at Cafe Express (3418 N. Lamar Blvd.) beginning at 6:30 pm. This will be a short meeting. The main items to be considered are election of a new President and a contribution of $250 to the Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus for the reception at the State Convention in Houston in June.   • Stonewall Austin announces City Council endorsements The Stonewall Democrats of Austin met on April 3rd at the AFL-CIO Assembly Hall to consider candidates for endorsement in the May 12th City Council elections. The following candidates were endorsed by the membership of SDA: Mayor: Lee LeffingwellPlace 2: Mike MartinezPlace 5: Bill SpelmanPlace 6: Sheryl Cole We urge you to vote on May 12th for these candidates who support our community and issues.   • Multi-club City Council Candidate Forum and Endorsement meeting April 3rd The Stonewall Democrats of Austin will be holding a joint City Council Candidate Forum and Endorsement meeting on April 3rd at the AFL-CIO Hall (1106 Lavaca St) from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. The clubs involved are: Austin Environmental Democrats Capital Area Asian American Democrats Capital Area Progressive Democrats Capital City Young Democrats Stonewall Democrats of Austin St. Edwards Democrats We will hear from candidates who have filled out our endorsement questionnaire (copies available at the meeting) and then have discussion about which candidates to endorse for the upcoming primary elections.
